Here are some things that are good to know as you are preparing for a week of camping at Tri-State. If you need additional information, please feel free to contact us here.
Are visitors allowed at camp?
Families and friends are encouraged to come to our Open House on Friday evening. Families are also welcome to attend our evening Chapel services and stay for the evening activities if they wish. However, for your child’s benefit, parents of younger campers who might tend to be homesick may wish to restrict their visits, especially during the early part of the week. Peer-age visitors to camp are discouraged during the week. Visitors who are the same age as campers must be accompanied by an adult. ALL VISITORS must check at the dining hall upon arrival and must sign out when leaving.
Will campers need money?
All costs are covered in the camp fees except items from the camp’s canteen. $15 is the suggested amount for canteen.
Is financial assistance available for campers?
YES. The camp board’s desire is that no camper would knowingly not be able to attend solely for financial reasons. If you need assistance, you may contact the camp board via the website or submit your request to:
PO Box 121
Pittsfield, IL 62363
Are campers covered by insurance?
Included at no additional charge is camper accident coverage that provides limited medical expense reimbursement for accidents that occur at camp. This coverage is written on an excess basis, which means that it will only apply to incurred charges that cannot be covered by other insurance. Parents/guardians are responsible for payment for medical services and submission of forms. This coverage is provided only as a service in the case of an accident and is a supplement to parents'/guardian's insurance. Note: Parents' or gardian's insurance will be primary.
Who serves on the camp staff?
Staff members are approved by the Board of Directors. Consideration is given to the applicant’s ability to work with young people, previous camp experience and the ability to contribute to an effective, cohesive, spiritually-minded team. Additional consideration is given to the spiritual benefit that the individual staff member will receive from being a part of Tri-State Christian Camp. Normally, basic requirements are that staff members be at least 18 years of age, a member of a church of Christ in good standing with his/her home congregation, and have a desire to serve. A criminal background check is performed on all staff members.
